I had written a beautiful and inspiring 4 paragraph blog about how I got started. In my attempt to add pictures, I deleted my entire process. You live and learn which is basically what I said in those paragraphs. Anyway, I will summarize what I had written and remember to go into depth later on.

So back in 2020, when the world had to take a pause, I had the time to paint and learn how to code. I had a small studio that I shared with my husband. It was perfection! I had my computer, my art material, and my coffee maker. What else could you ask for?

I was searching for a way of making the top coat of my painting shiny, almost glass-like. As I searched on YouTube, I came across this channel of a lady showing how to make ocean waves. She was using this liquid that had two parts and had strict steps in order to be used. Little did I know how much this one video was impacting my future. I probably watched it 20 times to try to remember the steps and understand how to use resin. That same day I rushed to the local art shop. Masked of course. Scared of the outside still but hey... it was Maui so it was actually really safe to go outside. Anyway, I found this resin that was dusty, small, and overpriced. I can recall the strong smell since I was unmasked but to my defense, I had just learned about resin from one video on loop. For those that don't know, you are supposed to protect yourself when using resin which means wearing gloves, a mask, and being in a well-ventilated area.

I worked on perfecting my waves and eventually found my way to making clocks. So fast forward to 2023. My first Etsy sale! Handmade Beach Clock with Maui, Hawaii sand. I only had that listing and had posted it back in 2022. This first sale sparked my love for resin again. So from beach theme to candy... why not bring the two together? So here is my Maui-inspired lollipop. I used sand from the big beach in Makena, Hawaii. I collected the same back in 2020 so these two lollipops are capturing the moment from then now.
